Located on the northern shoreline of the York Harbor just outside the mouth of the York River, the Cliff Walk in York, ME, is a short, scenic adventure you should take. It’s perfect for a family walk, a romantic sunset viewing, and makes a great photographic opportunity. If you love views of the ocean, then taking the Cliff Walk path is a guaranteed hit! Just be sure to bring a jacket with you to break the wind off the ocean!
Steedman Woods Walking Loop
This beautiful walk takes you across the famous Wiggly Bridge, the namesake of a local distillery, and the smallest suspension bridge in the United States. The walk starts on Hospital Drive and continues on for a nice length, 3.1 miles. The paved path makes a great morning walk or afternoon activity.
Mt. Agamenticus Conservation Region
There are many great walking trails in the Mt. Agamenticus Conservation Region! You’ll love the views of the ocean and friendly encounters with the unique biodiversity found there. The region is home to many rare animal and plant species, so bring your camera!
Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge
Outside of nearby Kittery, the Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge protects, in honor of the environmentalist, salt marshes, and estuaries for native and migratory bird species. This unique area is unlike anywhere else in Maine for many reasons! Go explore and see for yourself!
To the north of York, you’ll come upon the Wells Reserve. The reserve is lined with wonderful hiking trails, seven miles of trails to be exact. There’s plenty of beauty to see here and it makes a great afternoon trip!
