It is also home to film and opera festivals like Telluride by the Sea, and Met Opera broadcasts from Lincoln Center. In addition, the Musical Hall’s Loft provides a more intimate venue. The Loft opened in 2011 just around the corner on Congress Street in downtown Portsmouth. The 124-seat theater earned the recognition as “The Best Performing Arts Venue” by Yankee Magazine. It also received the NH AIA award for design excellence. The rich history and culture of the theater have fueled the important steps its modernized version has taken.
