1. Cape Neddick “Nubble” Lighthouse

There is probably no York attraction more iconic than the Cape Neddick “Nubble” Lighthouse. And there is good reason for that. This landmark is the quintessential New England lighthouse. Nestled atop an island off Cape Neddick that features rocky shorelines, the sight of the light is simply picturesque. Though the grounds aren’t open to the public, there are stunning views from the beaches and Sohier Park.

2. Beaches

When people visit coastal Maine in the summer, chances are they’ll want to hit the beach at least once. That means the next in our list of York attractions is the beach.  There area actually three York area beaches. All are unique, but all of them feature great amenities and encapsulate the New England beach-going experience perfectly.  Choose from Long Sands Beach, Short Sands Beach, and York Harbor Beach.

3. York’s Wild Kingdom Zoo and Fun Park

If you have children with you when you come to York (or if you’re just an animal lover yourself), then one of the York attractions you should check out is York’s Wild Kingdom Zoo and Fun Park. This zoo and amusement park has great animal exhibits featuring species like Bengal tiger, kangaroos, camels, macaws, capybaras, zebras, lemurs, monkeys, and many many more. Plus, there are amusement rides and a haunted house on the premises.

4. Old York & Strawberry Banke Museum

York is a place that’s full of early American history. In fact, it was one of the earliest English settlements in the country. The Museums of Old York and the Strawberry Banke Museum bring the history of the area to life and show visitors what it was like to live in York during those early days.
