Is there public transportation to the Dockside?
There is no direct public transportation to York, ME. However, there is a bus service called C&J Transportation that runs out of Boston, MA and New York City, NY that brings you right to Portsmouth, NH which is only 15 minutes from York, ME. There are car rental agencies in close proximity to the bus station or you can get a taxi to take you to Dockside.
Do you run a shuttle service?
No, unfortunately we do not provide a shuttle service around town. There are a couple of local companies offering golf cart shuttle services around the beaches.
Are there Ubers/Lyfts in the area?
Uber and Lyft are active around here, however it is not reliable.
Is there a car rental location close by?
Yes, in Portsmouth, NH you can use Enterprise or Hertz.
What is the closest airport?
Pease Airport is in Portsmouth, NH which is a smaller airport. Major airports that are about an hour away are Portland, Maine Jetport, Logan Airport in Boston, MA, or Manchester Airport, NH.
Can we rent a boat?
We have a small Boston Whaler you can rent by the hour.
What amenities do you have on property?
We have classic yard games such as Shuffleboard, Croquet, and Badminton on the property. We also have 4 beach cruisers and 2 E-Bikes, a canoe and kayak that you may take out first come, first serve. We have two restaurants on the property and a Marina. We are walking distance to the York Village as well as some nice scenic coastal walks that bring you to Harbor Beach.
Are there vegan or gluten free items on the breakfast buffet?
Our buffet has a variety of options that range from fresh cut fruit, yogurt, cereals and homemade baked goods as well as a hot breakfast. Our baked goods usually include dairy and gluten. However, we do have vegan and gluten free breads or muffins available, feel free to ask the staff for the daily selection. When booking your reservation, please note your dietary restrictions.
Are children allowed on property?
Yes, we are a family friendly property.
Do you have any baby equipment we can use while on property such as pack n plays, high chairs, etc?
Yes, we do have pack n’ plays available and a high chair available at breakfast.
Do you have a beach or swimming pool on property?
We do not have a pool on property. Our coast line is rocky and there is no beach access here. However, people will occasionally wade into the water at low tide. You can also launch a kayak, canoe or paddle board from our coast. There are three beaches nearby – Harbor Beach, Long Sands and Short Sands, which are within a couple miles of our property.
Can we walk to the beach, shops and restaurants?
The Dockside Restaurant and The Deck at Dockside are right here on the property. The beaches, shops and additional restaurants are a short drive from our property.
Is the Maine House ADA compliant?
We have two ADA compliant guest rooms here on property. Unfortunately, the Maine House does not have a ramp for wheelchair access. There are a couple steps into the house with a railing and we are happy to assist any guests with mobility issues.
Can we purchase items to have in the room on arrival?
We have many items available to pre purchase. Local flowers, roses and gourmet chocolates can be pre ordered. Our chef can prepare fruit and cheese, meat and cheese, chocolate dipped strawberries or a picnic lunch basket with advance notice. We also have wine and beer available to purchase. Please allow at least 72 hour notice prior to arrival.
Are there hairdryers and irons in the room?
Yes, there are hairdryers, irons and boards in all rooms.
Is there free WiFi?
Yes, we have free WiFi available on property and in the rooms.
Do you have handicap parking near my room?
We have plenty of parking on site. We can also set up handicap accessible parking near your room.
What is there to do in the area?
There are beaches, shops, breweries and restaurants in the area. Portsmouth (15 mins away) and Portland (45 mins away) offer additional activities such as music events, movies and museums.
Where can we go on a scenic cruise or whale watching?
Scenic cruises are available in Ogunquit at the Finestkind. Whale Watches are available at First Chance in Kennebunk, ME and Granite State in Rye, NH.
What is your smoking policy?
All guest rooms, decks and public spaces are non-smoking. Smoking is only allowed in the parking areas.
Is your breakfast buffet available to the public? If I’m staying there, can I bring a friend to breakfast?
A full breakfast buffet is available to guests staying at the Inn. The Captain’s Quarters cottage does not include breakfast. If you have a friend that is not staying at the Inn but would like to join you for breakfast we will add a $15 charge to your room.
Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately, we do not accept pets.
What if I have a service animal?
By law, service animals are permitted on property. When making your reservation, please let us know you will be traveling with a service animal.
